REDESIGN · RETROFIT

Give proven electronics a new life.

Obsolete components, a new enclosure or outdated ECAD data: we rework existing assemblies, from a manufacturable new layout to a full technical modernisation.

TYPICAL TRIGGERS

When a proven product needs to change.

Many companies have products that work but whose electronics no longer fit today's requirements. We take on clearly defined layout tasks as well as comprehensive modernisations.

  • Obsolete or no longer suitable components
  • New, smaller or modified enclosure
  • New interfaces and technical constraints
  • Outdated or missing ECAD data
  • More economical manufacturing

WHAT WE TAKE ON

Circuit, mechanics and data, considered together.

A redesign rarely affects only the layout. That is why we look at component choice, mechanical integration and the underlying data together.

Components & circuitReplacement of obsolete components and further development of existing schematics.
Mechanics & new layoutAdaptation to existing or new enclosures, positioning of interfaces and mounting points, 3D checks.
Data & migrationMigration of existing projects and ECAD data and handover of complete layout and manufacturing data.

PROJECT EXAMPLE

Building automation device family modernised.

Existing door-mounted and DIN-rail devices had to fit smaller enclosures and become more economical to produce. We developed a new layout with stacked boards, replaced components in the power supply and added keep-out areas for selective soldering. This led to three consecutive orders.

PROJECT PROCESS

From existing data
to the new board.

  1. 01
    Review the basis

Go through existing schematics, layout data, mechanical constraints and design rules together.

  2. 02
    Align

Clarify outline, space, mounting points, interfaces and missing library data.

  3. 03
    Implement

Component replacement and layout within electrical, mechanical and manufacturing constraints.

  4. 04
    Review & hand over

Four-eyes review, design rule check and 3D check, then the agreed manufacturing data.

FAQ

Questions about redesign and retrofit.

Is this possible if ECAD data is missing or outdated?

Yes. At the start we clarify what exists and what has to be recreated, and include it in the project scope.

Do you only do the layout or the circuit as well?

Both are possible: from a pure new layout based on your schematic to a technical rework of the assembly.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, within the European Union. On-site meetings are possible mainly in Bavaria.

Give your electronics
a new life.

Briefly describe the assembly, what needs to change and which data is available. Together we will work out how ReLaEx can support you.
