BUILDING AUTOMATION · RETROFIT

Building automation device family modernised

Task
A manufacturer's existing door-mounted and DIN-rail devices had to fit smaller enclosures and become more economical to produce.
Approach
New PCB layout based on the existing schematic, with stacked boards. Component replacement in the power supply, half-wave instead of bridge rectification and keep-out areas for selective soldering. Implemented directly in the customer's ECAD system.
Result
A finished, production-ready layout, followed by three consecutive orders.

TARGET 3001! · Fusion 360 Electronics

POWER ELECTRONICS · SCHEMATIC

Control electronics for a push-pull converter

Task
Schematic of the control and driver electronics for a push-pull converter with SiC power semiconductors.
Approach
Hierarchical schematic with 13 sheets: analogue PWM generation with PI controller and adjustable dead time, gate drivers, separate logic supplies, temperature sensing, overcurrent and fault shutdown.
Result
A fully documented schematic as the basis for layout and commissioning.

SENSORS · FROM SCHEMATIC TO BOARD

Sensor board for remote monitoring

Task
Compact board for a monitoring device with temperature measurement, digital inputs and cellular connectivity.
Approach
Schematic and layout with a Wi-Fi microcontroller module plus a connected GSM cellular module, two NTC inputs via a 16-bit ADC, optically isolated inputs with surge protection, a switching regulator and screw terminals.
Result
Manufactured and assembled board, integrated into its enclosure.

LAYOUT REVIEW

Independent review of a mixed-signal layout

Task
Review of a layout with audio, radio, display and battery supply before production.
Approach
Check of regulator current paths, switch nodes, USB shielding, SD card routing and grounding concept against datasheet recommendations.
Result
Annotated findings with concrete changes, for example a minimal copper area at the boost converter's switch node.
